About Panarea
Panarea (kmq.3,4), compared to Capri in its best years, is the smallest but certainly the most exclusive and enchanting isle of the all Aeolian Archipelago formed from other six famous isles: Stromboli, Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Filicudi e Alicudi.
An interesting characteristic of Panarea that contribute to its uniqueness is the total inexistence of carriage-way. In fact the ancient mule-tracks have been today restored for the only use of little electrical cars or some little motor means of transport.
Other important characteristic: in the roads there aren’t electrical lights so that the nights in Panarea with its starry sky have really a magical effect. With little rental boats you can enjoy the beauty of the sea with its crystal-clear waters and its fantastic shores, or in alternative you can choose to go to the sea–side near the house.
The island also offers the possibility to go for beautiful walks in the mountain: the highest top is “Pizzo del Corvo” (420 mts.). From Panarea it is possible to make excursions in the other islands by the hydrofoils service. The beautiful Mediterranean vegetation is luxuriant of indian figs, brooms, capers and olives.
The Aeolian Archipelago with its wonderful and very interesting volcanic nature, defined one of the most beautiful in the world, has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. In the 19th century it was the destination of some famous travellers, such as writer Alexandre Dumas (father) and the Archiduke Luigi Salvatore of Austria who were preminently travellers and researchers.
